FPNA works year-round
for Flamingo Park
in a variety of ways:
|
• Partners with the city of West Palm Beach wherever possible to trim trees and work on other projects of mutual interest
• Hosts our Holiday Historic Home Tour (2019 was our 26th!) — the largest fundraiser — and organizes a lighting contest for residents • Recruits volunteers to adorn FPNA-owned street poles for the holidays with our own (replaced-as-needed) decorations • Hosts a Garden Tour intermittently, another great fundraiser • Hosts a yearly Block Party with free food and entertainment for members • Publishes bi-monthly Flamingo Flyer to engage residents and bring in advertising dollars • Provides funds to Social Hour hosts for those events on the last Friday of the month, January through October • Gives House of the Month awards and occasional Volunteer Spotlight, with an accompanying gift cards • Plants landscaping as needed, mulches and does volunteer cleanups and pays a landscape company to weed, trim and keep our traffic-calming areas in great shape • Has monthly board meetings and quarterly membership meetings, with speakers and presentations • Coordinates a neighborhood-wide annual yard sale, benefitting participants with no donation asked by FPNA • Represents Flamingo Park at quarterly mayor’s meetings and other citywide issue meetings • Works with the city’s code officer to bring problems into compliance • Maintains the flamingopark.org website and a Facebook presence • Uses email to communicate with residents about issues and events • Maintains the financial stability for our association and sees that our income and sales taxes are paid and that our corporation status and IRS 501(c)(3) status are in order • Continues sales of Create a Stir!, the neighborhood’s own member-generated, full-color, totally fun cookbook • Maintains association-owned street sign poles and garbage bins • Maintains doggy stations to help dog walkers observe waste-pickup laws and keep the neighborhood clean. |
